Weekly Wednesday: 32!

The weeks are just flying by!  I'm torn between wanting summer to hurry up and get here and wanting the weeks to slow down so my baby doesn't grow so fast!

Despite a bit of a cold or teething or whatever it is that is making him fuss at me, it hasn't stopped him from learning how to be on the move.  He isn't crawling, but he can roll and scoot across the living room so fast I can hardly keep up.  What's that?  Pepper's bone?  Computer cords?  Mommy's foot?  Oh my!  I've been saying that we need to baby proof for a while, but now it's REAL.

I don't even want to say it for fear of jinxing my luck lately, but we've only been waking up at about 1:30 and then not again until 6:30 or 7!  Last night we had an extra wake up at 4, but then we slept in until 7:30!  Woo hoo!

Also, we've been starting to filter in some 12 month size clothes into his drawers.  He still fits into his 9 month clothes, but it's fun to have extra options.  When we pulled out some of the 12 month jammies, Hubby laughed and told me that they were "huge!"  He wasn't laughing when they fit our baby already.  :)

7 Months!

My sweet baby is 7 months!  Actually, he has been 7 months for 5 days now.

He's working so hard on crawling but still does much better at pulling the blanket towards himself.  His hair is getting long enough so a little bit goes over the top of his ears.  Hubby mentioned cutting it one night but I promise he won't make a mistake like that again.  I am pretty sure my sweet little man is getting more teeth.  Poor guy.  We won't talk about how I was trying to check for new teeth and accidentally cut his gum with my finger nail.  Not my best mommy moment.

Grandma and Grandpa came down for a visit today so we had some snowstorm fun for the 7 month photoshoot.  I forgot to use the 7 month sticker though, so I'll just have to make the baby book before I get the months mixed up!

Weekly Wednesday: 31

I got so caught up in the new episode of Nashville last night that I forgot to publish weekly photos!  Oops!  :)

The last few days we've been suffering from cabin fever.  It has just been too cold to go anywhere!  We really miss story time so hopefully next week won't be so cold!

We are still working on trying new foods.  Yesterday Cameron had a taste of my green smoothie.  There were strawberries in it and I think the seeds were not pleasant for him.  We'll have to revisit that down the road.  Bananas and apple sauce are still his favorite!  I think avocado is on the menu for him tonight.  Hopefully that has good results!

Weekly Wednesday: 30

On Friday we had Cameron's 6 month appointment.  He weighed in at just under 18 pounds (mommy knows best!) and is 27 1/4 inches tall!

The pediatrician said we don't need to be moving so slow with solids.  He said just have fun with it- feed him 3 meals a day and only avoid honey, peanut butter and egg whites.  I didn't ask why he can't have egg whites, so that is a mystery.  I've been trying to add in fun new things (like yogurt!) but bananas are still his favorite.

Last night we packed Cameron's suitcase and sent him off for his first overnight stay at grandma's!

Auntie was so excited for her overnight guest!

Hubby and I headed out for a date night...

We had a delicious supper and so much fun talking about everything we could do.  Go to a movie?! Go downtown for a drink?!  The blizzard everyone was expecting seemed to have town pretty quiet so we opted to stay close to the hotel.  Our movie plans quickly changed when we saw that the only shows we would be able to make it to had 10:30 pm start times!  Would we be able to stay awake?!  Instead we opted for sleep.  I slept for the most glorious 7 consecutive hours.  I don't even remember the last time I got that much sleep!  Woo hoo!  It's crazy how things change.  Not too many years ago college night life would just be starting at 10:30 (unless it was a Tuesday... then we had to be out by 7:00 for $0.30 taps!)

Anyway, we are hoping we don't get stranded here and are able to make it back to our baby tonight!  (Although the thought of 7 more consecutive hours of sleep sure are tempting!) ;)

Weekly Wednesday: 29 (Happy Birthday Auntie!)

Wednesdays have been so crazy lately!  Yesterday we were busy running around celebrating Auntie's birthday.  So fun!

So this week Cameron has been busy realizing how much fun his toys are.  And how much fun it is to pull off his socks.  His jumperoo is set up next to his basket of toys and lately he is not happy unless I sit next to him and hand him every toy out of the basket.  Then he drops them on the floor because he has so many toys he can't hold them all and it starts all over again.  He likes to grab at faces, too.  Today I told him to keep his hands off my new glasses and he didn't like that!

We've added pears onto the list of foods that he actually likes.  Sweet potatoes did NOT go as well as I was hoping.  We will revisit them in a couple of weeks.  :)  I'm not going by a specific "feeding schedule" so I'm curious what the pediatrician will say about that.  I'm planning to introduce avocado next.  Hopefully that goes better than green beans and peas!

We have his 6 month appointment tomorrow!  I am excited to see how much he weighs!  I would guess around 18 pounds but Hubby is guessing closer to 22.  Haha.  At his 4 month appointment he was just over 14 pounds.  We will see who is right!

6 Months (and the problem with being a bit of a perfectionist)

So we finally got 6 month pictures taken!

Some of you probably laughed to see that I consider myself a perfectionist.  I'm kind of a mess sometimes (or maybe most of the time).  But when it comes to pictures I could drive myself crazy.  I want everything perfect.  I have everything planned out long before the day is here.  And then when things don't go as planned, the day comes and goes and I haven't taken a single picture.  Sometimes I just have to do them and force myself to be happy.  I'm trying to embrace the fact that at least I am still doing weekly and monthly photos.  Not every week has to be perfect.  So what if my baby will smile at everything except the camera.  Babies don't care if their pictures turn out exactly the way mom wants them to.  Right?

I had big plans for doing 6 month photos.  I was going to get out the background and lights and make a studio in my living room.

Well, that didn't happen.

I had big plans that my baby was going to grab his toes, too.  Seriously, it has always been one of my favorite baby poses.  They are so stinking cute when they grab their feet!

That didn't happen, either.

This did...

Maybe his way of telling me to get over it?  Just take the pictures already and be done with it?  ;)

I suppose they turned out cute even if they are not what I had planned.  At least part of his outfit still fit.

Weekly Wednesday: 28 (Happy New Year!)

This week we have been having lots of fun trying new foods!  So far bananas are the favorite.  We tried  apple sauce again tonight and it went much better than it did the first time.  We tried green beans last night and he was definitely not a fan!  He also isn't a fan of squash (unless it is mixed with banana) or peas.  I love the stage he is at right now.  He isn't so fragile any more but he still can't run away from me.  :)

We started our new year's celebration with a super fancy supper yesterday.  We Hubby went all out and bought live lobsters.  I can't take any credit for this.  I was scared of them.  Eeeeek!

We all had to check out the lobster activity, but we weren't so sure we liked it.

Here they go!  Get in the pot Mr. Lobster!

Seriously, we had a FEAST.  Hubby is an amazing cook.  The only thing I can take credit for is the pretty dishes.

We made our first attempt at feeding little mister some green beans, but he was way more interested in the lobster.

From there we headed to my parents' house.  Little man got to spend some quality story time with Auntie.

And then it was time for the countdown....

Haha.  I will admit that if I would've been snuggled in that chair with a sleeping baby, I would've been sound asleep, too!

Today we spent the day working on a couple of fun projects.  Hubby was in the woodshop working on new end tables for our living room that will be more baby-proof than our current ones (definitely not sturdy!)   Cameron and I headed to my parents to make Pepper some cold weather gear.  But I can't take any credit for the finished product.  I made cookies instead.  My mom crafted these awesome dog booties.

We haven't tried them outside yet, but I think her feet will be much happier!  Hopefully they will stay on when she goes bounding through the snow!
