Breakfast, friends, and an unexpected trip to the clinic

What a great weekend!

We had lots of fun and were able to get in a few more walks before the temperature dropped!

 Hooray for the Ergo!

On Saturday morning we headed to great-grandma's for breakfast!  Cameron made friends with Daisy and Lucy. Kind of.  Daisy was more interested in trying to steal his toys and Lucy just wasn't sure what to think.  Haha little doggies, just wait until Cameron can chase you!

On Saturday evening we headed to our friends' house and got to meet their new little man!  It's hard to believe he is two months younger than my little man!  They look almost the same size!  Although Cameron is definitely more solid.  I'm curious how much Liam weighs.  It was crazy holding a younger baby.  I'm very thankful that Cameron is not quite as fragile any more!

Today Cameron had a trip to the clinic.  Yep, another one!  Yesterday I noticed a bump on his bottom and I didn't remember that it had been there before.  Of course it couldn't show up before his appointment that wasn't even a week ago.  I was happy that we were able to get in today since Cameron's pediatrician is usually very hard to get into without a months in advance appointment!  After a quick check, we left with baby's first prescription!  The pediatrician asked me if Cameron was allergic to any medications.  Really?

I suppose we will find out, won't we?!

He reassured me that if Cameron does have allergies to medications, we will find out with the next one.  Keeping my fingers crossed that he is allergy free!  Anyway, they are going to run some tests so we won't actually know what the deal is with the bump for about 48 hours.

Sometimes I think it's crazy that I'm a parent.  I mean, how in the world do people know what to do?!  And then I do things like notice strange bumps and get them fixed.  So maybe I won't be so bad at this after all.  :)

Weekly Wednesday: 18

Today we had Cameron's 4 month well baby visit!  The pediatrician had lots of helpful advice for me, including a product called "Soothe."  He said that lots of mom's have good luck with it for babies with colic, so he thinks that might help if I decide to add dairy back into my diet.  We talked about starting solids.  I told him that I was planning to wait until 6 months.  He said that if I wanted, I could even start at 5 months.  I guess I haven't really thought much about it, but I guess we will see what happens.  Five months is not very far away!  He was excited that I am planning to make my own baby food.  My tough little guy got shots again today, two in one leg and one in the other.  I watched them happen this time, the needles were HUGE!  I acted really calm because I don't want Cameron to be scared of the doctor, but yikes.

Cameron weighed in at 13 pounds 5 ounces and measured 26 inches!  That puts him in the 17th percentile for weight and 83rd percentile for height.  People keep telling me that he seems small for a  4 month old.  Apparently he is small but long!  No wonder it wasn't a crazy idea to dig into the 9 month jammies.  They are still big, but nice and fuzzy and warm so we will use them anyway.

I was a little concerned that he might be an angry baby all day like he was last night, but he's been pretty good.  Lots of naps and snuggling.  I probably should've napped, too, but instead I tried to be really productive and get this blog rolling so I wouldn't have to stay up until midnight.  Sometimes I'm amazed at how I can feel like I got a lot done, but look around and there is still so much to do.  Gah.  Oh well.

We ventured out into the cold for one last outdoor photoshoot.  I am probably lying.  I have a feeling we will be back out there.  We had to do this one quick because I didn't dress myself as warm as I dressed my baby.  Brrrrr!

Story Time and Coffee Time!

Today was a busy day!

We started off the morning with story time at the library!  (Actually we started off the morning scrambling to get out the door so we would be in time for story time at the library, but punctuality is a topic for a post on its own.)  We made it just in time!  It was so fun getting out to do something special for my little man.  I'm thankful for my mommy friend that introduced me to it!  I'm excited to learn the songs so Cameron will watch me instead of everyone but me.  He was LOVING the mommy next to me, she knew all of the songs.  The only time I was able to capture his attention was during the main story- guess what it was!  Barnyard Dance!  Yay!  We love Barnyard Dance!  I didn't get a photo during story time, but here is a photo of story time with Auntie a couple days ago.

After the library, I headed across town to pick up Little Miss.  She had big plans for a coffee date.  She makes the best plans.  We love Cafe 116!

He has been loving his Sophie lately!

When we got home we tested out nap time in the crib.

It looks like he's sleeping peacefully, but honestly it must've been just a lucky moment.  He's been nearly inconsolable since we got home.  See that swaddle?  Yikes.  I'm not sure if it's safe to swaddle with a blanket when their feet stick out the bottom.  Having his arms tucked in was the only way I was going to get him to calm down, so blanket swaddle it was.

Anyway, my poor baby has screamed so much that he's loosing his voice (scream?).  I feel so bad.  I'm not exactly sure what is making him so upset.  Teething?  Maybe it's teething.  The pediatrician warned me that I would blame a lot of things on teething.  We have his four month appointment tomorrow morning so I'm sure he will remind me that I will blame a lot of things on teething.  At least if we are up all night we won't have to worry about waking up on time!  18 weeks tomorrow.  I think his 18th week would be a good week to get teeth!

4 Month Photo Fun

My little man turned 4 months old today!  We had a fun, but chilly, photoshoot with pumpkins from Hubby's pumpkin patch.  We were thankful that it wasn't raining (or snowing!) today so we were able to take pictures outside.  The forecast calls for snow tonight so we will see if we wake up to white tomorrow!

With the cool weather we've found that Cameron loves fuzzy jammies.  On Wednesday night we only got up ONCE!  That's amazing.  If we only woke up at 3:00 every morning, I think I would feel like a completely different person.  I thought we had found the magic remedy to sleepless nights.  I was wrong.  We've been getting up so much the last few nights that I haven't even been able to keep track.  Sometimes he is even awake again before the sound machine turns off (I didn't believe the heartbeat sound would be helpful, but it most definitely has been!) and that plays for 45 minutes.

I try not to think of my baby's age in terms of "When will we get more sleep" but I'm convinced we will sleep longer when we start solids.  So when I realized that we were at the 4 month mark today, the first thing that came to mind was "Two more months until more sleep!"  I know that this isn't always the case, but it's nice to have a goal anyway.  I have a more solid goal of nursing until his first birthday, so I guess that is a bigger priority than sleep!

Also, if anyone has ideas for what to do with dill besides pickles (our dill grew like crazy, but our cucumbers did NOT) let me know!

Weekly Wednesday: 17

Week 17 already!  We had a really busy weekend (one wedding and two baby showers!) AND Cameron decided it was time to roll over!  I have a video but it doesn't look like I can just upload it directly to my blog.  I think I would have to upload it to YouTube first.  Maybe we'll get to that point sometime, but for now I'm just feeling happy that I've kept up with weekly photos!

Anyway, I have a video of my baby rolling over.  He looked ready to go, so I called Hubby into the room and grabbed my phone.  I started recording half way through his roll.  He got stuck on his side for a while, so it was mostly a video of Hubby and I cheering and trying to explain to him that if he just moved his head a little, he wouldn't be stuck anymore.  He finally figured it out and didn't even care.  It was way more exciting for us than it was for him.  I put him back on his belly and he did it a second time!

Has he done it since?  No.  Of course not.

Do I still have both of the videos?  No.  Of course not.  I also don't have any of the pictures that I had planned to blog from the wedding or either of the baby showers.  Bummer.  On Saturday night I had a brain malfunction and decided to install an update on my phone.  I don't know why I decided to do it.  I really don't know why I decided to do it without backing everything up first.  It had been available for a long time but I just never felt like downloading it.  So two days before my new phone was scheduled to arrive, I installed it.  Silly me, I didn't even think about it.  It was probably around 11:00 and I thought I would just click install and be off to bed in a few minutes.  No.  Instead the update froze my phone and the only way to get it unlocked was to restore it to the factory settings.  Luckily I had backed up my phone a few weeks ago so I only lost photos from the last couple of weeks, and most of them were on the blog.  The only thing I was really sad about was the video of my baby's first roll.  I'm also lucky that I had texted the video of the second time to a few different people so I was able to get that back.  So consider this your reminder: BACK UP YOUR PHONES!

Now I have a shiny new iPhone 5s.  It's insanely faster than my iPhone 4.  Yes folks, I'm an Apple person.  That's not going to change.  I love my Mac and I love that my phone goes with my computer.

Here's to week 17!

We had a special guest this week....

Heeeeey Ginger!  Welcome to Weekly Wednesday!

Photo Fun

It was such a beautiful day today!  I had been meaning to take some pictures of Cameron in his baptism outfit since his baptism.  I was so bummed when it got cold outside and that I hadn't taken them.  I wasn't going to miss what will probably be the last nice outside day!  His grandma worked very hard on the outfit and I love how it turned out.  I am not sure that I have the patience for sewing clothing.  I know that she used to sew dresses and things for me but I don't see myself keeping that going.  But then again, I didn't think I would ever see myself quilting either.  I'm glad that changed!

Cameron wasn't quite as excited about the pictures as I was, but at least his outfit still fit.  :)  Pepper told me that she was absolutely not going to be in any pictures today.  She was too busy being a filthy beast.  Seriously, she was way too muddy to be close to us anyway.

Weekly Wednesday: 16

My favorite Weekly Wednesday ever.

I just want to make this picture huge and hang it on my wall.  Right now.  They are going to be trouble when Cameron is older.

It's so nice outside!  We love it!  We do NOT love the asian beetles that decided to take over our yard.  Time to break out my spray bottle of dawn dish soap and peppermint oil.  That seems to help for a little while at least.

This week Cameron has been loving his Sophie teether and rattles and pretty much any toy he can put in his mouth.  I am convinced that his teeth will come in any day.  I can see that they are SO CLOSE.  That will be exciting (and probably a bit frightening as far as nursing goes, eek!)  He is also SO CLOSE to rolling over.  He still doesn't enjoy tummy time very much.  When he gets mad is when he starts rocking back and forth.  I'm torn if I should flip him over and stop torturing him or let him figure it out on his own.  So far I've helped him every time.  Maybe that will be the news for week 17.

Sunday Adventures

Today we went to a bridal shower for a friend of mine.  I used to work with her before we moved and haven't seen enough of her since!  Her fiancĂ© sounds like an awesome guy and I'm certain they were made for each other.  I have big hopes that a coffee date will happen before her big move.  They're a super glamorous couple and will be starting their life together in Hollywood.  I can't wait to visit them!

Check out the bridal shower cake!

Apparently it came from Target! TARGET. Whaaat! Her sister said that it came from a Super Target.  A Super Target with a bakery!  So I love Target.  I love Super Target.  But even my most favorite Target doesn't have a bakery!  I'm blown away.

Anyway, while we were at the shower my friend's nephew was talking to Cameron. He was making faces and being silly and guess what happened! My baby LAUGHED!! Aaaahhhhh!  I was so excited I didn't even know what to do.  I was seriously ready to bring that little comedian home with me.  Hearing my baby giggle for the first time was one of the coolest things that has ever happened in my life.  Definitely top three.

So now I'm going to be a crazy mama trying to get more giggles.  Best day ever.

Eleventh Annual Country Tea

Tonight we had the Eleventh Annual Country Tea.  (This is my second attempt at this post, so I'm sorry if it is uninspired.  I don't know why it didn't save the first time.  Bummer, blogspot.  What's up?)

This was the second country tea I've attended and if I would have known what I was missing I would have been at every single one of them!  And no men allowed (except the butler.  Who else would serve the tea?!) So Hubby was not invited.

Look at the beautiful china!

My place setting.

My phone pictures don't do the food justice.  It was fabulous.

The tea that was served this year was Babington's Royal Blend Black Tea.  We also had Veuve Clicquot Brut.

Welsh rarebit.  This was delicious.  Our hostess said that it was a very traditional dish but apparently that was the only part of the background that stuck with me as I dug in to the first cheesy food I've eaten in a very long time.  (Sorry baby, but it was SO GOOD!)

Then came the Assorted tea sandwiches and savories
Ham and cheese on corn muffin
Pineapple and walnut
Egg salad
Shrimp salad
Devils on horseback

My favorite was the pineapple and walnut.

And then Cameron decided to let everyone know that he didn't nap well today and throw a bit of a fuss.  So I missed my photo of the next course.  Pretend there is a picture of

Fig and honey scones, cream scones and crumpets served with Strawberry-rhubarb jam, Key lime curd and double Devon Cream

My mouth is watering just thinking about the cream scones and key lime curd.

And then we had dessert.

Mini toffee-apple pie
Chocolate-raspberry tartlet
Biscotto al cioccolato
Rum cake

The chocolate-raspberry tartlet was my favorite.  It was so good that I had two.  Sometimes it doesn't matter how full you are, if there is a dessert tray that comes around, you take a second chocolate-raspberry tartlet.  At least I do.

The company at the event was awesome, too!  I think this was the largest tea attendance so far.  Laura and I both commented how strange it is to be in a photo not holding a baby.  My baby is my best accessory lately.

Poor Audrey.  I guess this is an example of why babies start off small.  Then you get plenty of practice holding them so you don't pull their dress up in pictures.  Sorry girl.

Hey, Claire!  I told you I'd get a picture with you!

Hubby got Cameron dressed for the event.  He said that Cameron told him "If I'm going to be the only guy at this country tea, I'm going to dress like a farmer!"  Grandpa Ruben would be so proud.

Did I mention that Hubby got a goody bag?  No need to feel bad for him that he wasn't invited.  Donna takes care of our husbands, too.

Another awesome tea party.  I'm already looking forward to next year.
