10 Weeks!

10 Weeks and Adorable!

It's so fun watching my baby grow.  He is so much more aware of things that happen around him.  A couple days ago he even grabbed one of the rattle toys that hang on his play gym!  I'm not sure that he realized what he had done, or that he meant to hold it, but it's a start!  He was a little confused why his hand was making noise whenever he moved it.  He is busy working on holding his head up, too.  When we go for walks with the Ergo he is constantly looking around.  He doesn't like tummy time as much, but we just keep working on it.

This week we took pictures down by the garden.  Our tomato plants are growing like crazy.  I had some of the extra branches supported with stakes and sticks, but the tomatoes are so heavy a lot of them just stay on the ground.  If there's one thing I've been eating as much as Oreos, it would have to be tomatoes!  Hopefully they balance each other out.  :)

Catching Up

Last Friday we had Cameron's two month appointment!  He weighs 10 lbs 10 oz (according to the baby app I've been using this puts him in the 10th percentile) and is 22.25 inches tall (13th percentile)!  The doctor never tells us the percentiles (next time I'm going to ask) but he said that all of his measurements are on the same curve of the chart so that is what matters.  He suggested that I start adding dairy and bananas back into my diet to "give Cameron a challenge."  Right.  I wanted to tell him that he isn't the one that has to hang out with a screaming baby when I "challenge" him.  The doctor was happy with his growth and how alert Cameron is.  He even gave the doctor a nice big smile!  He did NOT give the nurse a nice big smile.  He gave her a scream.  Lots of screams, actually.  She gave him three shots and two bandaids.  Mommy did fine at this appointment. :)

Oh, and the doctor confirmed that my sweet little baby IS getting teeth, but we just have to wait for them to come through.  After some research on google I found out that this could also be a cause for my baby's yucky green poops.  Apparently when some babies start teething they swallow so much drool that their body has a hard time absorbing nutrients.  The doctor said that green is a sign of bile, so the milk could just be going through him so fast that he doesn't have time to fully digest.  He said he is not concerned about this as long as Cameron is still gaining weight!  By the way, it's really hard for me (I know I can't be the only one) to talk about babies without mentioning poop.

Baby's first bandaid!

We stopped on the way home and got some baby Tylenol so hopefully he didn't suffer too much.

On Saturday we went to the Renaissance Festival!  It was SO HOT!  The highlight of the trip had to be the wiener dog races.  So cute.  Cameron did really well.  He had a good time being strolled around.

On Sunday our church hosted a baby shower for Cameron.  We feel so blessed and are so thankful to have such an awesome church family!  We had a great time.  We even got to meet new cousin Easton!

Yesterday I celebrated by 28th birthday!  When I was little I remember being sad because I was going to be SO OLD for my golden birthday.  I certainly don't feel SO OLD now.  :)  27 was a great year (engaged, moved, wedding, baby!)  I am curious what year 28 will bring.  Hubby says maybe 28 will be my year to just relax and not have any huge things happen.  I ordered a jogging stroller for my birthday present (YAAAAY!) so hopefully year 28 will be my year to get back into running.  I think a good goal will be to train for another half marathon.  I'm so excited to do another 5k.  I haven't participated in any races since... um.. it must have been a long time ago because I don't even remember!  Probably two summers ago!  Time to change that!  Filthy 5k anyone?  I think that would be a perfect way to get back into running!

Paul Bunyan Land & Nine Weeks

First train ride!

We had so much fun on Cameron's first trip to Paul Bunyan!

Tomorrow we have his two month appointment!  I'm determined not to get worked up when he gets his shots.  I'm am convinced that the better it goes for me, the better it will be for him.  So no tears allowed!  :)

I took the 9 week picture with my phone instead of my regular camera.  We were all a little too tired to make it into the normal production it usually is!  Oh well.  :) One big photoshoot in a week is plenty.  Thanks Auntie for decorating the sign this week!  It's much cuter than I usually make it.

It's turning out to be a big week for my little man. Turning two months old, first trip to Paul Bunyan, doctor appointment, first trip to the Reniassance Festival (hopefully on Saturday!), and his baby shower on Sunday (at our church after the service!  If anyone would like to come let me know and I can get you more details!)

TWO MONTHS

I am the proud mother of a two month old.

I still have a hard time seeing that he is "growing."  Although I have gone through his drawers and started a box of clothes that no longer fit.  So I guess when people tell me that he is getting bigger, I have to believe them!  It's also hard to deny that his carseat is getting heavier and heavier with each trip we take.  Either that or I'm getting weaker. :)

My baby's first two month trick was sticking out his tongue!  His second trick was sleeping the most he has slept so far!  We were up at 2:00 and were awake for about an hour.  And then he slept until almost 7:00!  When hubby left for work I made him check the nursery to make sure our little man was still ok. I couldn't believe that he skipped his 5:00 wake up!  I won't get my hopes up, but I won't complain if he sticks to that schedule!

We had to do a mini photoshoot to celebrate his two month birthday....

I love my little cow!  :D

And we had to do this while this diaper still fits him.  Have I mentioned that I love cloth diapers?

And we my mom finished the dino blanket!  We are My mom is super awesome.  We love this blanket.  It's made out of PUL on one side (it's waterproof!) so it will be a great lake/park/picnic/going outside blanket.  My baby loves to be outside!

The kittens came out for the photoshoot, too!

I've been surprised lately by the number of people that have asked me how long we are planning to live around here.  Every time I think "Why would we leave?!"  We love it here!  I can't think of a better place for a kid to grow up.  Big yard, big dog, lots of pasture and places to get muddy, the LAKE!  What a wonderful place to be!

8 weeks!

This week we transitioned from the bassinet in our bedroom to sleeping in the crib!  I guess we didn't really need to "transition" because Cameron didn't protest to the crib.  It was more of a struggle for me, but I think I'm over that now.  I suppose we will eventually have him sleeping in there for naps, too, but that can wait.  :)

He also has something that looks suspiciously like two bottom front teeth coming in... I don't exactly know what to look for, but he likes to bite his pacifier instead of suck on it and he has a lot of extra spit lately!  He doesn't drool, but sometimes the bubbly spit seems to overwhelm him!  I googled pictures of "teething" and some of the pictures looked the same.  I guess we will just have to wait and see!

My favorite part about the past week... Cameron has been working really hard on talking and smiling.  I love our little talks!

Week 7

This week we have Cameron in front of our pumpkin patch.  I think the pumpkins are the most successful plants in our garden!  The tomatoes and green beans are doing pretty good, too.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we get some cucumbers out of the TWO plants that actually grew.  I saw a tiny one growing a couple days ago and then Pepper spotted a kitten in the garden and trampled through the plant to check out the kitten.  I haven't been able to look at it since.  I hope it survived the trauma.  :)

We've been busy practicing smiles this past week.  Apparently I am not very funny because I've only gotten a couple of small ones out of him.  We will keep working on it though!  We've also been having a lot of fun with the play gym.  Cameron likes to watch the toys when I wiggle them around.  There is a bird that tweets and that is definitely his favorite toy.  It has been a big week as he is also becoming more vocal!  He has different cries for things, sometimes he just cries so we can snuggle.  And today he started to coo at me!  I'm so excited!

Pillow pet

You might be wondering "Does Cameron have socks on his hands?"  The answer is yes. It feels like fall around here and his poor little fingers get cold.

Last night we were only up at 3:30 and 5:30!  Skipping the 1:30 wake up call was a nice treat. He must sleep better when his fingers stay warm.

Also if anyone is wondering, I'm getting the hang of this new diet.  And we are starting to see results!  Cameron doesn't seem to be as uncomfortable and his poop hasn't been as lime green colored, more yellowish green! (I never realized how big of a deal poop becomes after having a baby. We talk about baby poop every day, and probably multiple times a day!) I've heard that it can take a couple of weeks for the dairy protein to be completely out of my system, so we have another week to go and hopefully everything will be back to normal!

Let me just say that the paleo diet certainly is not for me.  However, after cutting out the junk from my diet I do feel better.  I've read that when you diet you shouldn't completely avoid the things you love because it will lead to binging. Well let me tell you that I love chocolate. And candy and baked goods. Which brings me to our Friday trip to Target and my discovery that Oreos are dairy free. Whaaat?!  Yes, it's probably because they are made of plastic or ingredients equally as bad for me.  I won't tell how many I ate the minute we got home (because I'm not even sure of an exact number) but it was a lot.  I was really only testing that diet theory... It's true.  So in the name of scientific research, I really enjoyed chowing down on those Oreos.  And lucky for everyone that has to be around me, I am now a much happier person.

Hello August!

What happened to July?  Woah... slow down summer!

Cameron hit the 6 week mark on Wednesday.  :)
