I don't blame him. It's one of my favorites, too!

Nap Time
I'm always amazed at how much Cameron understands. Today he was starting to get fussy so I asked if he was ready for a nap. I told him to go upstairs if it was nap time. So he led me to the gate. I told him to go to his room. He did. I asked if he wanted to rock and he climbed into the rocking chair. Nap time without a struggle is awesome!
Yesterday we were visiting my grandma and he decided it was time to go outside. He went over to the front door and opened it! What a fun trick! Time to start locking the doors!
Cameron loves going to the park! Although his favorite part is going up the stairs.

Fabric Collection
Have you ever wondered how I got into quilting? (Of course not! You're here for pictures of Cameron!)
Here's a story from my pre-baby days.
My mom and aunt tried many times to get me interested in quilting. I wasn't. They drug me (and my sister and cousins) to fabric stores. We died of boredom. Sometimes the stores had candy, so that was ok. One store had a basement play area where we could watch movies. Because it took that long. We watched whole movies. (At least that's how I remember it. And now that I think about it, that store was brilliant!)
Fast forward to college and I still wasn't interested. Crafting- sure. Quilting- no. They would ask "Isn't this fabric beautiful?" Eh. Thimbleberries just weren't my thing.
They had probably lost hope. And then it happened. I came home for a weekend and caught sight of the most awesome fabric. It was Java by Deb Strain for Moda. The bells went off and the quilt books came flying off the shelves. We'd find an easy pattern. Of course we could get more of that fabric! So this is all it took?!
Now, if you don't care about fabric, you don't know that fabric is limited edition. All of it. So by the time I had finally found a fabric I could love, it was also incredibly hard to find. Not only this, but when they showed me the patterns, they were all "lap sized." That wasn't going to do. I needed something that would fit my bed! Nothing smaller than queen! (I knew that one day I would move on from tiny college apartment twin beds and finally have a real bed someday. So my mom scoured the internet, bid on fabric on eBay, and we hunted down complimentary fabrics at quilt shops.
This is how I know they love me, by the way. And they really wanted me to love quilting. A queen size quilt is intense, especially someone who is clueless. And fabric is expensive, especially when you have to resort to buying it from eBay!
I think it took me two years and a really intense quilting day (LuAnn handed me the strips, I sewed them together, and my mom ironed) to get the darn thing finished. I don't think they were going to let me leave the house until it was done. I did quilt it myself (it even has my name in it! And the year- 2010), but I didn't have anything to do with the binding.
And that was all it took. I don't think I sewed another quilt until after I met my Hubby. We had moved from an apartment into a house. It was winter. And one day I said "I wish I had a sewing machine. I feel like sewing something." I was surprised that he reacted much like my mom and aunt. We headed to Joann's that day to check out the machines (sadly they were out of the one we liked). But I had one in the mail a few days later!
Now I love fabric. Sometimes I love it so much that I can't even cut it.
I feel just like my mom and aunt blabbering about their thimbleberries.... But look how beautiful it is!!
Amy Butler is my favorite! However, I found a new fabric love that rivals my love of Amy Butler. Meet Cotton + Steel.
(This is a combination of August and Mustang. I had to have August because it's my birthday month. Obviously it was meant to be!)
I could go on with my fave fabrics all night long!! I considered doing a "stash shot" but I've been busy digging in my cupboards and it's looking like a disaster in there. A really gorgeous, expensive disaster.
And if you've stuck with me this long, here is Cameron. He has been loving boxes lately.

Labor Day Weekend
We had a really fun birthday week/Labor Day weekend!
My aunt took us out for a really yummy breakfast! She took this really great picture and we didn't think to get one of her, too! A good reason to go back for more yummy food!
We had a really nice visit from Hubby's family, too! Cameron got to try his first corn on the cob! Mmmmm!
And Cameron got to show off his fun ride! Zoom zoom!
I've been trying to get up early lately so I have time to get things done before my little helper (baby tornado) wakes up. The mornings have been so pretty!
An update!
Cameron is one busy boy lately!
His favorite things are cows. Real cows, toy cows, cows in books, he loves them all! He loves to moo like a cow, too. He has a little cow and a tractor that he likes to play with.
I can tell him to pick out a book to read and he will pick one and bring it to me. He can put the books back in the basket, too!
If I would let him, we would spend the whole day going up and down the stairs. Stairs are so fun! Going outside is great, too. In fact, Cameron sometimes will cry when someone leaves the room- not necessarily because he misses them, but because he thinks they are going outside without him!
I'm amazed every day by something he understands. I can ask him if he needs a new diaper and he will point to his diaper. Sometimes he even brings me a diaper and let's me change him! That is much easier than wrestling the new diaper on him, so I really like it when it's his choice!
He loves the movie Shrek. Actually I'm not sure if it's the movie he likes, or just the case, but he carries it around so sometimes we put the movie in and sometimes we just read the back of the case. I have a feeling he thinks Shrek is a cow because he likes to moo at him.
This is the best picture I got on our train ride. What a difference in one year! Last year he was just a little bug that snuggles in for the ride. This year he was way more interested in the train than snuggles with mommy.
Cameron has also learned some less desirable tricks. If I take something away from him or move him away from something he will throw himself onto the floor and have a little toddler tantrum. I usually ignore him and he gets over it quickly (thank goodness!). A bigger problem is gagging himself. He usually does this when he is contained in the car seat or high chair. This is harder for me to ignore because he has made himself throw up from it. My mom caught on to his trick though and watched him in the car seat. She said he has just been putting his fingers in his mouth and making the gag noise, not actually gagging himself. Sneaky, sneaky, sneaky. So I'm working really hard to ignore that, too, and hopefully he'll stop doing it!
